Theme: Boku no Hero Academia
This week's recs are Boku no Hero Academia! It's a big fandom with a lot of lovely AMVs so I've narrowed it down to one of my favorite canon mentorships: Deku and All Might! Arranged in alphabetical order by title.
I love how much this focuses on failure and difficulties for both All Might and Midoriya. It feels pretty balanced between the two of them and really makes some emotional connections between their stories. Also, the choice of song really gives this an interesting atmosphere switching between tones. It's not pure victorious triumph but hope in the end which I think works great emotionally.
The Symbol of Peace! Legacy! This AMV does a great job of selling the weight and legacy of both One For All and All Might. The first part especially feels like awe. The gradual transition to Deku as the next successor is inspired, gets me every time. I love the story developing between the lyrics and scenes, as they shift from a fan and his idol to a mentee and his mentor, each admiring the other's strengths and qualities. Anyways, it's great! Watch it!
Training montage! This one's a pretty straightforward upbeat look at Midoriya's first training arc. I really enjoy the bouncy atmosphere and choice of song. I love the progression of action. The editing is well done. All Might is a delightful fixture and I love the undertone of pure determination. Midoriya's gonna be a hero!
